The vast majority of people who go to "our" shows are misfits of Regina who are curious about hardcore.
Tonight after playing the Merc a redic noise band played matt carrs house till 4am, and absolutely nobody was weirded out except the hardcore crowd.
I think these new people who don't know what cursed or converge is at all is fantastic and makes hanging out a great new experience. And they enjoy our jams.
So get along with the new mid twenties crowd of weirdoos because thats what hardcore is now.
Peace and voodoo speak.

What band is INS 96? I blame bands like INS 96 for making people not come to house / venue shows when they can see them at O hanlons for free.
I just want to get my hands on that fucking INS band.

Poser game? I promote the shows I do because I enjoy them. Whether you like the ones I do, or the bands I associate with, I really do not care.
As for the lack of younger people at shows, it's because they only go to shows their friends band(s) are playing, and leave right after watching their friends set. It's a different mentality than the scene of old.

I think the problem with the youth is that they (for the most part) have such fucking egos and attitudes. All of a sudden everyone got so fucking cool overnight, and no one ever takes time to cultivate meaningful shit, respectful of the culture in which it is situated. Everyone's a fucking Rockstar, "post"-punk/hardcore, and everyone wants their brand of Tattoo-pop to be the next big thing. No scene is developed because very little meaningful music is made, and anything that is meaningful takes too much effort to soak up. The main reason I get fed up with a band or promoter is that they get too cool for school, then they start doing anything to self-aggrandize, including stepping on everyone else. Then everyone is competitive, and the whole idea is lost. And the idea is usually never there in the first place; they never get it because they don't get the substance behind the labels, because everyone finds punk/hardcore the easy way now, no one has to work for anything. So if people are leaving shows after their friends band is done playing its cause they don't fucking get it, they don't know why you would build a scene, support music, challenge ideas, ect. These are children, and why would we want appeal to children? What about growing, autonomous, intelligent, humble human beings? Thats the difference between pop and punk, backstage passerbys and people who care, in my disillusioned opinion. My two cents.

Completely agree with this statement. It's a shame that people treat music as a competitive thing. I've always been a supporter of all different kinds of music, and go to as many shows as I have time for/can afford. Music in general, especially in a smaller scene, like Regina has become, doesn't need to be divided. Lately, I have been trying to figure out a way to get kids interested in what is going on in the scene, and unfortunately, if it's not a bigger band, no one gives a shit.

Dude, you keep perpetuating the hollow tattoo-pop bands!
And speaking of competitive behaviour in the scene, remember when that Danger Cat wanted to play here and you jumped in with your resume? Prime example of what I'm talking about. Thats what business men do, not punk promoters. Thats why things are divided. I hate these rifts, but if people would just smarten the fuck up... Like, you are the kind of promoter that, when good bands DO come to town, puts a hold on all the venues so no one else can get the show. That's shifty capitalism, doesn't lead to a scene of any kind, cause again: you don't get it. The concern should be whats best for the music, the artform, not the individual. But tell me how it used to be bud.
PS Didn't see ya at the Soiled Doves show tonight, but you don't go to shows your not trying to make a dollar off, right?

brad whats a mid tier promoter exactly mean? vanilla ice probably has a bigger guarantee then dead & Devine but surely the stones have a bigger guarantee compared to vanilla ice.

FUN FACT: I have tried to bring Danger Cat here 2 or 3 times in the past few months, all of which times they have dropped off the bill a few days before the show.
I was not at the Soiled Doves show because I was visiting my mother who was in Moose Jaw, in the hospital with a herniated disc in her back. I try to make it out when I can.
A mid tier promoter is someone who deals with bands on the level of being on a label, but not playing venues above 400 capacity. Clearly Vanilla Ice wouldn't sell as well as The Stones, but they are considered high level acts
