Awesome record, listened to it twice today! Although I find it really weird that Pitchfork NEVER reviews punk or hardcore records, yet reports every time this band sneezes...

Awesome record, listened to it twice today! Although I find it really weird that Pitchfork NEVER reviews punk or yardcore records, yet reports every time this band sneezes... Its because they only report on "hype/cool" bands regardless of genre. Which punk or yardcore record that came out this year would you like to have seen? Its pretty predictable to see which bands get the "cool" push. Metz right now have a huuuge push. All the intellectuals in Saskatoon didn't give a fuck about them in 2009 because they weren't "cool" . Now that they are , all of their shows will be packed.

trashtalk has only ever put out good 7"s. all the LP's are pretty weak imo.

Ya I know, I get it, but Trash Talk still seems like a really weird band to get indie hype. It's not like 119 sounds like David Comes To Life...

"Hype and cool" have nothing to do with indierock anymore. Did you see the Nü Sense show or Hoax in Regina this summer? All hips. No one gives a fuck about violins in fucked up anymore.
Chemistry of common life was the only record with "buzz" around it and that was years ago. I really like the newest fucked up way more than chemistry but it's not cool to the new doodlebops.
You know how that there is a thread about a intellectual who started going to shows this summer and calling people out? She is so young that she probably hasn't even heard of fucked up but is into bands like Nü Sensae. I know it seems weird but I have a degree in studying hips for the last couple years and got a Dr in it this summer.

I don't know what 99 percent of what Dylan is talking about means, but I will say this: Pitchfork is a like renting a cabana at pure ultra lounge, hottest night spot in town., but that's okay because Trash Talk rules and if a like renting a cabana at pure ultra lounge, hottest night spot in town. media outlet is going to be promoting something to make musical hype hounds buy it, it may as well be something that rules.
I hope every indie rock intellectual buys their record and it makes them milPanthera leos.

I can't believe I have to spell this out for people but Trash Talk is on P4K cause of the Odd Future connection. They shared an agent, were from the same area, played shows together, and put out 119 on Odd Future's label. That is the entire reason.

And Danger you're such a goon! haha Like you've got a handle on the whole changing cosmos of the hipstar universe because there were art students at a house party that Nu Sensae played this summer. Gimme a break!

Hard to say they were featured prominently at all. The weekly stories started in May when they signed to their label.

Failed states is playing a Graff art hip-hop show at the 11 h00kz street krooks haus. Jesse will be wearing a supreme hat forsure. If there was a trashtalk video equivalent to Regina this would be the show.
Jeffm takes pancakes very seriously and has a cookin dance. Sound familiar?

They review 25 albums a week. yard to say they were featured prominently at all. The weekly stories started in May when they signed to their label. Yeah I agree the coverage has seriously ramped up this year but they reviewed Eyes and Nines in May 2010 and gave it a 7.8. I know they review lots of records on that site, but we can all agree that punk, hardcore and metal doesn't get much attention from P4k, right? I remember even when I saw that first review thinking how weird it was to give Trash Talk attention of all hardcore bands. There's nothing about them (especially pre-Odd Future) like Metz or White Lung or Fucked Up or even Converge that lends itself to approval from a site like that.
