To clarify...The box itself takes feeds from turntables playing the control vinyl, right? And it comes with software? Mac or PC? Or does it matter?

When you have a DJ set up (2 turntables and a mixer) you connect the Serato box to the mixer and then you connect the turntables to the Serato box. You then use special records called control vinyl along with software called Scratch Live to control digital audio through the control vinyl. Essentially you can scratch, cut, mix, juggle, etc mp3s or other digital audio in a very similar way you would real records. Oh, and it works for Mac or PC I used to hate on it a lot, but after using it I really like it. There is practically no delay and it doesn't feel any different (to me) than using a record. Also, those CDJ things are for herbs.

the software is free for mac or pc. Basically you can manipulate mp3's as if they were vinyl. You need at least 1 turntable and a mixer. You CAN use it on its own but what would be the point of that?

I know how it works, I just wasn't sure what a Serato box actually was...like if it itself was the mixer or what. But that's cool. If you still have it later in summer I might ask you about it. Don't wait to hear from me or anything though.

the serato box is a seperate unit that has rca inputs that link the turntable with the mixer and allows you to play the mp3's as records. it also has throughput for regular phono records
