This show really pisses me off. For the record, Gallows is a favourite of Jason (RRB) and Barnburner is a favourite of Mitch (RRB) and all of Black Thunder. So when we heard about this show both bands really wanted to play. When we heard BK was doing the show, we knew there would be slim chances of us playing cause I think he's scared of our bands, but Mitch sent a message anyway seeing if we could. We were told that the touring bands themselves were picking the bands, which seems ridiculous in itself that a touring band would pick local bands to support a show in a scene they know nothing about, and I guess they "picked" BK's favourite watery 2000's era pop punk/emo bands. I'm not saying we should get to play every show that we want to play, or that I know what's best for each show, but I sense something fishy here, which sucks because about 30 people I talked to would have loved to see RRB/BT open this. We are very passionate about our art, and this could have been a good opportunity for us to pour some of that passion into this show, and also to mix some people up, maybe even make friends as we share the common goal of making each show the best it can be. At LEAST Black Thunder, the only band even remotely close to sounding like Barn Burner in the city. I hope that once again we all weren't screwed into a less awesome show by a petty promoter with personal issues. But seeing as this is being billed as "Wade Whatshisnuts of that washed up emo band's new band" and not "seminal UK hardcore/rock n roll act and blistering rock n roll opener" means those involved probably don't have a clue.

I know everyone on this board seems to have a problem with Hours, but what is the problem with Empire Choir? Their music doesn't sound like anything else in the surrounding area and they have their shit together. I feel like I am missing something here.
I do agree that Wade picking the local bands seems like a bad idea, each city should have a chance to showcase who THEY think is best. Regardless of whether or not Wade picked the bands, I am sure it would have been the same lineup anyways.

Also, I'm not a fan of Hours, nor am I really that big a fan of Empire Choir's music. Nice guys, but the music just isn't my kinda thing. Word of advice, you should never say something like this about bands you are working with. Its rude and distasteful. Also it added nothing to the thread. If you don't like a band, don't work with them. If you don't like their music, keep it to yourself.

I don't like most bands I see, doesn't mean I don't support what they do, or like them as people. My point was about pettiness hopefully not making another show not as awesome as it could be, and petty divisions continuing for no reason. Obviously I'm critical of BK and his methods, but if working with him meant it would be best for the show, I totally would. This still seems fishy to me...

Dylan, I'm not against working with you either. Next time there is something like this that comes my way, I'll be sure to talk with you, because I want what is best for the show and ultimately for the scene.

If I was Brad I wouldn't book Dylan's bands - like, can you blame him? Dylan, you rip this guy to shreds online every chance you get. I don't think it's petty for him to say FUCK YOU when you turn around and want a favour from him, I'd do the same.
