Why does everyone rallying around a new board seem so bummed that there aren't more 14 year-olds posting here? Like, I hate to keep adding to this ENDLESS discussion, but I'm actually genuinely really puzzled by people like Shoe's or even Mason's unwavering bell-ringing for yet another new QCP. First off, what does everyone hate about this board that is so different from other QCPs? And has anyone also considered the fact that maybe there's less people posting because the site has been through so many incarnations, and because it's never been that interesting to begin with, people lose track and don't bother to keep up with the constantly changing domain names? And who cares? Again, it makes absolutely zero difference to me which website I go to in my daily time-wasting between real work to check in on Regina pals saying funny things, so if everyone moves over and I have to change my bookmark to nofun, whoop dee do. I just still have not seen one shred of evidence that starting yet another new board will attract more posters, encourage more people to start bands or go to shows, be just jam-packed with really exciting, intelligent conversation, or be any different than any other QCP other than having 20 mods and 50,000 rules. All the hyper-idealism about this site on both sides of the debate is so confusing to me. Why does QCP need to be anything more than a funny little discussion board for friends who like fast music? And since when is a message board a barometer for the health of a scene? If people were really that concerned they'd be starting bands instead of programming sleek new ways to shit talk. Can't really take the time to go over all this AGAIN, considering most times I make a post explaining or rationalizing this situation, it gets ignored and something new is found to nitpick. Also, Jason is far and away the best troll I've seen on any QCP, and would be in the mix for the internet in general. So subtle and controlled, and yet still so dickish on the internet. I'm pretty sure I mean this as a compliment.

That's how everyone feels, that's the opinion back in Regina. While we're hyperbolizing: Literally, every last person in Regina feels like Justin and Dylan are hanging on to Regina a little too hard. Me, Frank, Dave, Jim, Bob, Bill, Lawrence, Scathin' Curious George, Jimmy, James, Larry, Paul, George, Ringo, Ike, Matthieu, Tom, Tim, Taz, Tony, Liz, and I could go on for the other hundred-or-so thousand who have specifically told me this. Jason, you forgot me!

I wouldn't say I feel disconnected with the music scene, none of you guys even came out to the bourbon bbq thing or the last games night. (J and mace did) I didn't get invited to a lot of the john kapp or ivan get togethers and me moving to Vancouver or me staying Regina would probably be the exact same thing.
Me not actually hanging out with your "crew" whether being in regina or not and disconnected from the music scene are two different things.

I'm gonna say what everyone has said to me - it REALLY REALLY seems like the HKR dudes are just railing against something new because they had nothing to do with it, because they've left Regina, and are feeling a bit disconnected. OOF I've never had anything to do with any QCP. That's the goofiest thing I ever heard. Again, it makes absolutely zero difference to me which website I go to in my daily time-wasting between real work to check in on Regina pals saying funny things, so if everyone moves over and I have to change my bookmark to nofun, whoop dee do. In fact I'll go there right now and join in the good vibes! And since the whole city of Regina is apparently convinced that I'm obsessing over my "legacy" from the West Coast, I'd like to simply state that if the good folk at NOFUN.CA start putting on shows and events and starting bands and putting out records in the city I'd be thrilled. PLEASE do, it's a big chore for my brother to do on his own! Or even just ATTEND the shows he puts on! I feel ZERO sense of proprietorship over anything having to do with Regina punk, and am very glad to see any new shit happening whenever it does. I'm stoked on Ingrid's zine, that's a really cool idea and I hope it goes really well. Again, If people were really that concerned they'd be starting bands instead of programming sleek new ways to shit talk.

Agree with J-ballz, I just hope that "things are happening" is actually shows and events in real life and postering the town and helping touring bands, then how cool a website looks and sharing cookie recipes.

I don't come here very often, but recently there's been a lot of activity! I haven't read many pages, but the later ones have been full of entertaining drama (beats watching Jersey Shore), so every once in a while I've gotta pop in and say something stupid and provocative to keep everyone thinking there's some sort of issue here when there's not.

" A bunch of us had a nice little get together last night and eden taught me the script for the site - with that, we're closer to launch every day and when we DO launch, it's obvious where people will be switching their bookmarks to. "
Is there content that's interesting? Or is it just fancy links?
And all of this "we" and "us" and "all of regina thinks"
Who was it mason, jkapp, your gf, eden, maybe silent burg, mike brown? Did you invite mackenzie clearly she is interested.
Ill even say maybe 12 people, if you have under 12 people in a room all agreeing on things and your trying to make a website that includes all of Regina and you contine to say "we all agree" your going to have ingrid mystery posting about no fun again.
If me and justin ludwig think that this is a cool party board showing off their internet skills who probably have t-shirt designs of the board on their hardrive; and convince an entire bar to agree I can't say that's the opinion on the west coast because clearly justin shoemosh doesn't think so. Even if shoemosh agreed I still can't make that claim cause its redic.

If mackenzie didn't get a pm or a call or something about NoFun yet I am 100% convinced its a cool party board just because she seems like she wants to be involved. Can I get a confirm or a deny

I just find it really funny that certain people who are super involved in this new board were some of the biggest shitheads on previous versions of qcp and probably a big reason why people are scared of posting on it or whatever.

Can I get a confirm or a deny I'm sure someone's talked to her but I just sent her a thing now to be sure. We've got more mods than we even need for the time being, we did right from the get-go, but I mean everyone's welcome to help out with shit if they've got ideas or things to offer.

I just find it really funny that certain people who are super involved in this new board were some of the biggest shitheads on previous versions of qcp and probably a big reason why people are scared of posting on it or whatever. Speaking for myself: there's a huge difference between being 19 and being 16, I'm sure everyone can attest to that. And that's not counting the first like three years of me even posting on qcp when I had worse problems. The kid who went on the offence in the xGooniesx thread years ago probably would find flaws with this new board and be extremely vocal about it. Not that I'm kinder gentler soul now, really, but I'm at least more mature about shit. Just regarding the whole thing where we're criticizing the people for doing the things, I like that no one's really called John Kapp out for participating and setting everything in motion, only people who have bad or kinda-bad reps already.

Just so you guys know, I'm starting a band that will knock you guys on your ass. It's a two piece mexican punk band, with influences ranging from NOFXs song, 'drugs are good' and weird als, 'white and nerdy'. It's myself and my friend Pablo (from dead alives hit song, 'pablo if you must, then please get off the stage') pablo on mandolin and spoken word, myself on the bass drum. It will 'be in the key of A sharp, with certain parts of the mandolin being played in A minor. We will only be playing at the Mexican Club on Burrito Bay in Saskatoon, as pablos mom won't let him play Mexican music outside of his home as it's a disgrace. Also there will br free tacos at each of our gigs, tap dancing and dogs to play with. Hope to see you all at the festival!

Okay, the fact that Dylan had to text me while I'm in Mexico about whether or not I 'mystery-posted' (which is such a retarded concept, considering half the people that do it are just too lazy to login such as myself one freaking time!)..just goes to show how internet obsessed everyone has become. Which is the MAIN reason why starting a zine again is what the city needs in my opinion. Something that is publicly distributed, and people can access freely without searching for a mysterious website. Unfortunately the last one didn't last that long, but there is always room for improvement. Justy did a shit ton of work in trying to revamp the punk scene unintentionally..simply because he loves it. If everyone stopped talking about stupid fucking internet drama we might ACTUALLY have more fun IRL lOlz. If this zine takes off and has a positive impact on bringing more outsiders into coming out to shows, with the intention that it might persuade and enlighten others to play in bands or even put on shows that the general qcp population is too lazy to try. This summer seems to already have a lot of hope for better shows, different lineups, and maybe bigger turnouts which is a huge plus for everyone. All we need is some new ideas and putting in an effort from whoever is willing to give up their time to do so. Why make a big fuss out of message boards when there are probably so many kids that would just rather come hang out and be a part of something we all love? It's great to see that HKR is still connected to Regina despite them not living here. In closing, email me some record reviews, HKR bands would be ideal! I'd like to put an ad for them in it if people get me some juicy writeups.
