I already bought my person a CRUCIAL gift, but if you haven't done so yet, this is a thread to post what you want or don't want from your Secret Santa. I will begin:
turn-ons: food and exotic cookbooks (but nothing by like, Emeril okay?), mid-career Woody Allen (Crimes & Misdemeanors, Hannah and her Sisters, etc.), fast thrashy punk rock, art books, prints and posters, The National, plaid shirts.
turn-offs: candy/chocolate, cassettes, blaxploitation movies (not an actual turn-off, I've just received 7 movies from QCP SS's and would like a change-up), records I already have, books I will never have time for, music/instrument gear, liquor (i'll just polish it that night..), gag gifts that are funny for like 12 seconds

Great idea!
My list is similar to yours Justy, just add comic books to turn-ons and remove Woody Allen. I also love Star Wars.
So, I like Star Wars and Fleshlights. If you could combine those things I would be stoked.
EDIT: I should clarify, I am John Kapp.
EDIT2: I should add, I have no interest in anything Marvel comics.

Turn-ons: nice-looking shirts (size M), books (ideas: Hitchens, linguistics, there's this one book on no wave I saw at Chapters once, etc). Almost anything, really. I'm working my way towards beer snobbery so if you feel like helping in that department I wouldn't mind.
Turn-offs: sports, totally rote punk/hc records, video games, gift certificates, anything lacking thought/effort (this isn't me going "boohoo I deserve nice things", I just know I'm going for broke for my SS and it'd be an awesome Christmas if everyone did the same for theirs)

yes: records (but good god, be careful and do some research), flyers, you can almost always win with late 70's early 80's punk shit with me (dvds, books, records), cool art, anything yankees, anything baseball that's not red sox, or even a well thought out mix tape for those on a budget
no: don't get me bath shit, candles, tea blah blah blah, basically typical stuff you get a girl who you don't know or has no interests or personality. Records that are of recent brocore bands, recent revhq, b9, or fat wreck kind of stuff. If you're stuck, talk to my main man Michael Holatko (Mickey Holla via fbook).

Records that are of recent brocore bands, recent revhq, b9, or fat wreck kind of stuff. Your definition of "brocore" seems to be pretty all encompassing. Not trying to be a dick, just thought it was kind of funny. Oh and someone please buy Andrew Love some kind of watch that re-calibrates itself based on the force of gravity.

Good: Records. Hook up my record player for me (i'm probably missing a few cords because my sister and her boyfriend "cleaned up"/threw away everything i need). Books by excellent authors (fiction). Art. Tuque. Comics. Studio Ghibli movies. A cute teapot. Anything cute, really. And recommend me some good tunes. Just write a list, I think that would rule.
Bad: Hardcore. Copy paste what emily said about girly shit you buy for girls you may not know. 12 scarves (this ruled the first time, but I certainly do not need 12 more scarves).

Not trying to be a dick, just thought it was kind of funny. Well notice I said recent, though. I mean revelation has some awesome records that I like/have from the early days. Fat Wreck put out some pretty awesome punk records 15 years ago that I like/have. I am aware there's music that came out past 1985 that's awesome too. You guys can be dicks all you want about what music I dig, I'm not trying to rub it in your face. All I'm trying to do is give some idea of what kind of record I'd be stoked on getting. BUT GUISE GUISE GUISE REMEMBER DA 80'S. REAL SHIT GUISE, DATS DA REAL SHITZ.
