I don't think there's a real need to separate things by genre. There will probably be the same sorts of subforums as there are here now -- general discussion, shows/promo, for sale, maybe something else cool. I think any divisions would be a) confusing, e.g. "does this go in punk or hardcore" and b) just kinda counter-productive to the whole community thing. I agree, since we don't seem to talk about music so much anymore, just one forum is probably enough. And for cases like this it's easy to clarify in the thread title what genre of music (you think) it is, using brackets or parentheses. Example thread titles: [Punk] NOFX's new record "coasts" with the rest. [Metalcore] Here's what's wrong with metalcore. [Folk-Reggae] New music by The Marley Bobs.

qccollective sounds good, and I think you're now starting to make things more difficult, Mason. I think it's important that new people from Saskatchewan know that they're entering a Saskatchewan forum.

I probably like qccollective better than qcunderground. Yeah underground seems like a mid 30's eyebrow ring advertising word like synergy when he is trying to liquidate his warehouse full of jack skelington merch.

I just think dividing the sections up like they're currently divided on QCP, or close to that, will work just fine. It works fine for the other multi-genre music message boards I post on. Em -- it's good to be picky at this stage! No bad ideas in brainstorming, but at the same time I really really want this forum to work and become like a real thing that attracts people who aren't already on QCP, so I think it should have a really good name. I'm here at work with people who a) go to shows in Regina and are active in "the arts scene" and b) don't post here/aren't really into punk rock, and when I ask "Would you post on a forum called Queen City Underground/Collective?" they say "no". So I think we should come up with a name that's great, or at least not off-putting. That's all!

I like qccollective a lot. I think qcc has a nice ring and I think your friends at the carillon are being silly, unless you're asking your friends at Kumon

I mean, if people hear that the place is good, they'll come to it, and they'll make their own nicknames for it. We just need to have a domain name figured out, really.

It would be sweet if we could get the old party dawgs like Krazy kieth and Dave Kappto post.

What about Cassidy?
I'm going to set up the paypal tomorrow. I want a name by Saturday so that I can slowly start building this thing when I have the time.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a long name. Also Mason types a lot of words when he wants to say "no" and I find that amusing. I don't like Queen City Collective. I like Regina Collective.. but I say the Winnipeggers be damned and we go with Queen City Underground.

I don't know. I think using "underground" falls into the whole using "alternative" thing.

Also Mason types a lot of words when he wants to say literally anything. Also Eden I back the "underground"/"alternative" thing.

I FB messaged the FB message people the donate button url (I'm so bad at studying). If anyone who is not in that wants to donate to it, PM me. We're keeping it closed just so that people don't get all "I paid so I'm entitled to this that" stuff.
